So long 2008 ...

... and welcome to 2009. Well, we have less than 5 hours for that.

I hope you all have a great 2009. And don't worry, this blog is just getting started.

2008 was a rough year for everyone, myself included. I had to make tough decisions and I am still living with it. Today, I had to say goodbye to a lot of my co-workers who decided to take retirement, or early retirement and it was hard to do that. To those who did leave, you know who you are, I wish you nothing but the best. Expect me to raise a toast to each of you tonight for good luck. You deserve it.

If you read one of my previous blog entries, you seen that there is a High Wind Warning here. Some gusts here in the SusquValley reached over 50 mph. But I just can't help but to feel that maybe this is just Mother Nature's way of sweeping 2008 away.

Anyway, 2009 is almost upon us. Bring it on.

What a reader wants ....

... They will get.

One of my friends and avid reader, thanked me for not whining about the Cowboys loss too much. She liked of how I kinda kept it real and not added like what if, I hate the Eagles, blah blah blah.

Well, you ask, and you shall recieve, my friends.

I HATE THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!!!!

I cannot tell you how much more I hate that despictable team than I do right now. It is really not fair that they are in the playoffs. Yeah, my Cowboys don't deserve it and rightly so. We played terrible. I am basically in shock still of how it all went down. Even the Dallas Cowboys great Michael Irvin said some nasty stuff. And rightly so. But still, I HATE THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!!!!

Yeah, hate is a strong word. I totally agree with you. But if you were a Dallas Cowboys fan for most of your life and you wait, wait, wait and wait some more for a playoff bid to occur (that you can win) and not to happen ... you can't help but to feel what I feel. Am I ready to say though that maybe the Dallas Cowboys organization needs to be reshuffled, no. But I will get there in a while. But, honestly, what good things can you say about the Eagles? NOTHING. N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

Andy Reid needs to be a dad when the Eagles off season happens. That is what he should've been all along, in my honest opinion. Not a coach that just sucks.

That my friends, is the way it is. Good night and good luck.

Wildcard Football Weekend Coming Up ...

I hope I'm not jinxing things here ...

Still mad about my Cowboys. Our year now just a memory. Off season should be interesting. But I think most of my Dallas Cowboys fans want revenge and payback for what happened. So here is what you do ...

Don't bandwagon here, but let's support the Miami Dolphins eh? Last year, they were the laughing stock of the NFL, because they went 1-15. They cleaned house then. Hired former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Swertzer as executive vice president. They then hired assistant Cowboys coach Tony Sparano as their new coach.

So even though the Cowboys are not in the hunt, let's support the Dolphins. They are the Cowboys in some fashion.

Now, I hope that the Vikings take care of business next Sunday in Minneapolis. The Eagles honeymoon have to end ASAP. They cannot and will not go to the Super Bowl. We had one bad taste in our mouth in 2005 when they made it there .... this cannot be repeated again.

An Open Book

Well, I think a lot of Cowboys fans are eating their words right now. And rightly so.

The previous game from this one, we witnessed the worst quarter in Cowboys football. This game, well the whole game as worst game. And this was to the Philadelphia Eagles?! Give me a break.

Well now, Dallas is in the off season. And we have plenty of company. Like the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, among others. But, let's look on the bright side, we were not the Detroit Lions.

So, now the Dallas Cowboys are a open book. Will Wade Phillips stay? Will the other coaches stay for our team? What happens with Romo? We need better next year. We do have the new Texas Stadium opening next year. That is something to look forward to. But after tonight, wow. Not much to mention. Not much to say. Not much too look forward to in the immediate future.

But, I will be the better man. Congratulations Philly. Just don't get comfortable. You are the 6th seed, 6th. You have a HUGE mountain to climb. I hope you didn't pack your hiking gear tho. It will be a short hike for you.

For Your Consideration ....

Go Cowboys!

Beat Philly!

Today is D-Day for my Dallas Cowboys ...

Either do .... or die. Never did I think when the NFL schedule was released in the off-season that this game would have any major significance to my team. Well it does.

I've been to Philly plenty of times. I know the city's highways like the back of my hand. And that skyline is so beautiful as well. The historic neighbors are nice, and no trip is complete than a trip to Pat & Geno's. But that is all that my love for Philly goes to.

Of all the major sports teams in Philly, the Phillies and Flyers are the only teams that you can actually respect. The Philadelphia Eagles are the worst team in NFL history, in my opinion. That movie 'Invincible" was the worst sports movie ever made. The Eagles fans are rabid and worst behaved fans in NFL football.

One of my buddies wondered why I would not go to today's game if I was such a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. The reason is simple. Last year, I went to the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redkins game at Fed Ex Field, Landover, MD. Even though the weather could've been much better, the fans were bitter. I wrapped myself in a Dallas Cowboys blanket I had because of the misty cold weather. "That is the worst blanket I have ever seen!" one Redskins fan said. After the Cowboys lost, people were almost to the brink of trashing my car. With that said, if I went to the Linc, I feel I would be afraid for my personal safety. I most likely would not even make it inside the Linc. So, I will watch the game from the safety of my home.

Eagles are 1 1/2 point favorites. They probably gave that to them because of home field advantage. I feel bad for the Cowboys fans going to the Linc today. Be careful. Be aware of your surroundings. I hope you survive. The Linc will be rabid today with Eagles fans.

But has Terrell Owens wore last week, "I Believe". I Believe, we will win this game. I Believe that we are going to the playoffs. Finally, I Believe we are going to the Super Bowl. Remember what I wrote earlier this week. Sometimes, it takes a humble loss to get your footings straight. Donavon McAwful had that earlier this year. Now we are going to go there and kick major Eagles ass.

The Eagles brought the feathers, Cowboys will bring the tar. It will be quite messy. But the Cowboys will prevail.

Earthquake Shakes SusquValley

A still developing story here ...

A 3.3 magnitude earthquake hit Lancaster County around 12:04AM Saturday. It was felt in many areas here. I personally did not feel it here in West Hanover Twp., Dauphin County. It was felt from Mechanicsburg to Reading and felt as south as Bel Air, MD.

This area surprisingly does get earthquakes. In fact, this was the 3rd significant quake in 3 months. Dillsburg, York County had 2 quakes in October.

Kudos to WGAL who has been on this story since the beginning. After I posted my nightly news blog, I was surprised they had a news ticker about this. They brought Kim Lemmon in for a 1AM news update.

I will have more info on this as it comes in. If you felt the quake, you can email me through this link.

2: Here is a report on the preparations for the annual Rose Parade in Los Angeles. There is so much that goes into this. And it all goes down New Years Day. Details from KABC-TV Los Angeles, CA.

3: Now a weird story from LA. Looks like a 850 pound stolen emerald was found in Vegas. Story from KNBC-TV Los Angeles, CA. My question is how did someone steal something so big and so heavy? Wow.

4: Looks like District of Columbia police motorcycles will have a new look, just in time for the inguaration of our new president. Details from WJZ-TV Baltimore, MD.

5: Don't you hate it when someone just doesn't shut up at a movie theatre? Sure, we all have experienced that. Well, yesterday, someone did this and the other person shot that person. Crazyness included in this story from WPVI-TV Philadelphia, PA.

9. In the bad news story of the day in the world of newspapers, this story about a newspaper that has folded, with only 1 year under it's belt. Story from Sioux City Journal - Sioux City, IA.

11: In a sign of the times, the Green Bay Packers are considering actions to make sure that fans are behaving at football games. Perhaps they might want to do this pretty quickly, as the Dallas/Eagles game is gonna get nasty. Those rabid Eagles fans are crazy. Story from WBAY-TV Green Bay, WI.

12: It's always good to see stories like this. A group of good teenage guys who excel in school, dress nice and perform community service has made their own club: Gentlemen's Inc. Neat story from WPTY/WLMT - Memphis, TN.

13: Global sea waters are expected to rise by the end of the century and the US coastline could be seeing seas 4 feet higher than what they are right now. Details from ABC News.

14: The 'Lambeau Leap' turns 15 years old. Not sure what this Green Bay Packers thing is? Check out this story from The Reporter - Fond du Lac, WI.

15: And finally, here is an update on our Penn State Football players and coaches. They are taking some R&R and they are going to Disneyland. Details from The Orange County Register - Santa Ana, CA.

Have a good evening.

Happenings ....

Good evening.

So, I wasn't able to get that iPhone tonight. AT&T said I have to wait 6 more months before I could upgrade. Who in their right minds keeps a cell phone for 18 months? I think it's such a stupid policy.

I went to Borders then and got some CD's since I have been lazy with adding music lately. Do yourself a favor: Do not get the new Maroon 5 remix CD. What a stupid CD. I really like Maroon 5. I seen them in concert. But this remix just absolutely sucked. There was no ingenious remix's. Nothing to keep your interest. What a bummer.

Well gonna get the 15 stories started for tonight. Hope you had a great day.

Now, as Paul Harvey says, "stand by for news!"

Excellent poem

15 Stoires .... 12/25/08

Well ... So much for a day off.

I trust you all had a good Christmas. I got mostly everything I wanted. My grandmother gave me cash (which is always good) and I might get an iPhone tomorrow. Can't wait for that. I know, I said i didn't want one, but if more free wifi is available, go for it. Plus, and to some people, it may be a shock, but I actually went one full calendar year with one cell phone. So, for the tech savvy like me, yes, it is possible to do that.

With that said, onto today's 15:

1) We begin the 15 stories today with a sad story. Eartha Kitt, who sung 'Santa Baby' and played Catwoman passed away today. She was 81. Story from Saint Paul Pioneer Post - St. Paul, MN.

2) Looks like more and more companies are giving Dec. 26th off this year as well. My brother also was asked to take today off, due to the economy. Details from WFSB-TV Hartford, CT.

3) Here is an interesting story about the decining print media and the resurgance of online media. Story from Yahoo! News.

4) One of the Christmas movies that came out today 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' is getting plenty of Oscar talk. A review from KETV-TV Omaha, NE.

5) Good news now for my beloved Dallas Cowboys. Looks like our great QB Tony Romo was back at practice today. Details from KFDA-TV Amarillo, TX.

6) Homeland Security gave us a five-year 'terrorist forecast'. Ah, at last, Bush & Company's last ditch attempt to scare us all. Sorry, but that time as passed. Nice try though. Story from Yahoo! News.

7) A horrific accident happened on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Christmas Eve. 3 people passed away and the only survivor was a 3 year old girl who suffered major burns. Details from The Sentinel - Carlisle, PA.

8) After a mixed result, looks like the DTV deadline might be extended. Story from KCAU-TV Sioux City, IA.

9) Looks like someone stole a historic cannonball from the Alamo and there is a $5,000 reward for it's return. Details from WOAI-TV San Antonio, TX.

10) The Notre Dame fighting isish football team went to Hawaii looking to win. After 9 unseccessful bowl games in a row, they took Hawaii by storm. They won 49-26. Here is reaction about the win from WSJV-TV Elkhart, IN.

11) Here is an interesting story about a family that has received a 'mystery check' from a person every year for the past 5 years. Story from WLWT-TV Cincinnati, OH. Don't all checks have name and address on it???

12) Looks like a copyright confusion between two rival movie companies might delay one of 2009's most anticipated movies, Watchmen. Details from KCBS/KCAL-TV Los Angeles, CA.

13) Crazy story about a DOG stealing a rawhide bone from a dog shop. Yup, you read that right, a dog. Story from KUTV-TV Salt Lake City, UT.

14) Who knew that they owned stake at a baseball team? New York Times has been advised to sell it's stake of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. Why? Due to the continuing troubling times at the newspaper. Details from WBZ-TV Boston, MA.

15) And finally this Christmas Day ..... Looks like President Bush should've done his research before he issued that pardon. He issued a pardon to some one and then once it was made, was it realized that his family gave to the GOP. Story from Yahoo! News Politics Wire.

Have a great evening. More stories tomorrow.

Surreal Music Moment

A quick note before I go to bed ...

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are always emotional times for me. When I was in high school, my late grandfather suffered a stroke on Christmas morning. Being a teenager at the time, it shocked me. I couldn't understand how he was at my family's huge party the night before, being the life of the party that he was, and then the next morning, dying. That Christmas/Winter break from high school was the most depressing time I suffered with until my early 20's. Also being a teenager, you suffer through a lot of peer pressure, including to smoke cigarettes. My grandfather smoked a lot. Even though that did not lead to the ultimate reason for his death, when I heard him on the ventilator, it quickly made me realize what I needed to do. At that moment, I made a promise to God, and to my grandfather that I would never smoke. Except for a rare cigar, I kept my promise. So, now you know why I am sometimes beside myself at this time of the year.

So, it was shortly before midnight this evening and I went to my car. My cousin parked me in and I didn't feel like going in and asking to move their car. So I waited. Turned on the radio, and XPN came on. For those who are not familiar with this fine station, it is an Adult Album Alternative radio station from the University of Philadelphia. And I am a proud member of this station since 2003.

The radio came on .... and it was a great song that is a legacy song for me. It was Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. Instantly, tears almost came to my eyes. For the memories of my late grandfather came to mind. Also coming to mind is the friends and co-workers who are leaving from my work as of late. I'm not depressed mind ya and I am doing alright, but I just couldn't help but to just take a moment to reflect.

I thank XPN for that moment. They are not a religious station from any standpoint. They are an Ivy League school for crying out loud. But sometimes, it's rare songs like that, stands still time.

What a moment.

Merry Christmas to all. And If I have time I will post some stories in the morning.

Take care.

5 Stories ... Christmas Eve edition

I have some downtime before the real party begins, so let me see if I can shoot some stories your way.

2) First the Pope asked us to take care of the 'Gay Threat' in 2009 ..... well now, for Christmas, he brings a more positive message. Let's fight child abuse .... Story from Reuters.

3) In a business that can bring it's awards and certainly bring it's pain and arguments, car re-po's can even work on Christmas Eve. Even I have to feel that is a little cold. Story from KVIA-TV El Paso, TX.

4) Always looking forward is good thinking. Certainly with this young man. Olympian Michael Phelps is already looking ahead now to his swimming meets in 2009. Story from Detroit Free Press - Detroit, MI.

15) And finally ... looks like missing sleep is bad to your health.  Not only in loss of energy, but as a new study suggests, it might be bad for your arteries.  Story from BBC News.

One final thing before I close shop tonight.   Last evening I told you that the Hershey Chronicle is one of the midstate weekly newspapers that might cease operation by the end of the year.  Well, looks like the Hummelstown Sun will purchase the paper.  Good news.  Now, someone just save the E-Town Chronicle and Columbia Ledger and well will be in even better shape.  I have always loved newspapers and losing these great weekly papers will be bad for this area.

Have a great Christmas and I might post some stories Christmas, but don't be surprised if I don't.

Dick Hoxworth Remembered

Christmas Eve at 7AM ends an era at WGAL, and for News 8 viewers in the Susquehanna Valley.  That is when a 40-year journalist veteran, Dick Hoxworth retires from WGAL.  I just watched News 8's half-hour special and it was an awesome look back at such a great talent.

He will be missed alot, and mornings and noon news will never be the same.

God speed Dick.

Here is a link to WGAL's website where you can post a best wishes comment.

Cowboys update 12/22/08

Well, before one of my friends reads my Dallas Cowboys rant, let me give you this update ...

The Eagles lost yesterday in Washington.

Tampa Bay lost yesteday as well.

That means that Dallas just has to go into Philly, beat Philly and we are in the playoffs. IF Philly wins, that means that they have to hope for other teams to win to get to the playoffs.

Sorry, I hope we make the playoffs, but the way we played, we don't deserve to be in it. I hope this loss was our 'humble' loss. Sometimes it takes an loss of this severity to figure out that we are a better team than how we are. Let's hope I'm right.

Go Cowboys!

Coming up tonight ...

Hello everyone.

Unless if Google Reader acts up again (ugh), I should have a fresh 15 stories for you later this evening.

Some stories you can look forward to tonight on my blog:

  • Looks like midstate weekly newspapers are feeling the heat of closings. Hershey Chronicle, the E-Town paper and Columbia Ledger will all cease publication beginning of 2008 unless if a buyer for those papers are named. The E-Town paper has been publishing since the mid 1800's. Quite a sad day in journalism.
  • The Eagles-Cowboys game as been pushed back til 4:15 on Sunday. Just give those Eagles a little bit more time before their tar and feathering.
  • WGAL's digital signal has been acting up lately, and WGAL says it's part of the transition to all DTV. I knew I wasn't the only one feeling the audio gaps on TV.

That and a whole lot more later tonight. Stay blogged in ...

Cowboys Rap-Up and Stories Preview

Bah-humbug ...

After seeing my Dallas Cowboys implode last night that is how I feel this morning.  And I really don't get it why it happened.  Why did it have to happen last night?  It was our last regular home game in Texas Stadium.  Sure, we were down 9-7 at halftime.  Perfect opportunity to get back into it.  You would think the NFL Films homage to Texas Stadium would save my beloved Cowboys.  But it only got worse.  Now, we have to go into the Den of Darkness called Lincoln Financial Field and beat the rabid Eagles, but we also have to hope that the Falcons and Bucs do bad as well.  Ugh.  Not the way I wanted this to happen.

I really must be cursed as a Cowboys fan.  Really.  I have to deal with Philly Eagles fans, Philly being 1 hour and 45 minutes east of me.  Now, I have to deal with Baltimore Ravens, 90 minutes south of me.  The Baltimore Ravens made us lose.  I really have to look at the that sentence again.  BALTIMORE RAVENS?  What the hell Dallas?  What the hell ...  Even though our season is almost over ... even though we go into Philly as a do or die outlook, Eagles fans, be scared next Sunday.  Even though Dallas played terrible last night, we are coming for you.

Jerry Jones cares deeply about the health and respect of the Dallas Cowboys.  How we played last night was deplorable.  I am sure Wade Phillips is done now at the end of the season.  On the other side of the shoe, Philly keeps the awful Andy Reid.  That is the main difference between these two teams next week.  We care, Eagles don't.  And that is why they don't have a storied legacy history that Dallas has.  And even now if we don't make the playoffs, we have something very good to look forward next season.  A brand new, $1 billion stadium in Arlington, Texas.  And we will prevail.  I just never thought what happened last night came to past.  Well it did and now it is time to move forward.  Rant over.  Discussion over.  Ever forward.

Now, I should have a 10 stories ready for ya in a bit.  But I decided now to spice things up just a little.  Now, all my feeds will be put into the story mix and I am increasing the stories to 15.  As of late, it took up to an hour to do 10.  I think if I increase to 15 stories per day, and everything together it should go faster.

Finally this morning, roads are slick out.  Parts of the midstate fair better than others in road conditions.  If you go out, take extra time.  But I would wait for a few hours at least before you head out.

15 Stories will come soon today.  Have a good one.

In what has become a holiday tradition, NORAD will track Santa around the world December 24th.  Details from WHNS-TV Greenville, SC.

Story 2:
A 10-year old student was shocked when she tried to plug in her boombox.  Went to the hospital, and the family claims Jesus saved her.  Crazy story from WKYC-TV Cleveland, OH.

Story 3:
The Reading Pagoda is a famous landmark in Reading, PA.  It really strikes out in the background of Pennsylvania countryside.  Well now there is a book made about it.  Story from WFMZ-TV Reading, PA.

Story 4:
A bold burglar stole $2 million worth of jewelry from the rich and famous Paris Hilton.  All done while she was sleeping. Story and details from WPVI-TV Philadelphia, PA.

Story 5:
A bus crash that was just unbelievable to see on TV, 2 charter buses dangled over a I-5 overpass ramp in Seattle, WA.  11 people were treated for minor injuries.  Details from KWTV-TV Oklahoma City, OK.

Story 6:
Instead of me giving an update on Sunday's snowfall, I will let my hometown newspaper do that.  All the information you need to know from The Patriot-News - Harrisburg, PA.

Story 7:
Who isn't guilty of illegal song swapping right?  I am not endorsing it but looks like you can do it now without any legal problems for you.  The music industry has put up the white flag and is giving up trying to bring people to court.  But, I really still would never rest easy with doing it.  Story from The Coastal Current Weekly - South Padre Island, TX.

Story 8:
There is an old saying, "If first you don't succeed, try try again."  Well this person is taking that to heart, but that's not a good thing either.  A college student tried a FOURTH time to jump off a bridge along the Missouri River.  Details from Columbia Daily Tribune - Columbia, MO.

Story 9:
Today is the last regular season home game for the Dallas Cowboys.  And IF (and that is a big IF) they don't make it to the playoffs (which I highly doubt), today will be the last home game for the iconic Texas Stadium.  The team has used the building 'with a hole in it' since 1971.  Story from The News Star - Monroe, LA.

Story 10:
And finally, an update to a story I brought you last week about the Lebanon County man who drove into buildings in Lebanon City.  Well, the guy, or guys since it was 2 different incidents were both charged with DUI.  Story from Lebanon Daily News - Lebanon, PA.

Well I and off and running for this Saturday.  Lunch with my family and then holiday shopping.  Have a great day.

Bush lied about Iraq, and he ruined our legendary tip top perception of us around the world.  So, now, only weeks before he leaves office, he plotted a way to permanently destroy our economy.  And that would be to simply self-destruct our economy by having a 'orderly' bankruptcy of the auto industry.  Great plan.  NOT.  Story and details from WNCT-TV Greenville, NC.

Story from The Deseret Morning News - Salt Lake City, UT.

And finally a weather update.  I really don't think this next storm will be all that bad.  However, another Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7AM to 11PM Friday.  Precip should start around sunrise, as snow.  A fast change-over then should come and by noon or so, it should be all rain.  Sunday might be another story as we just might get some accumulating snows just in time for Christmas.  I will keep you up to date.  I would also like to let you know that WGAL redesigned their online weather page.  Check it out here.  The page has a nice drag and drop and moveable boxes that you can have what info you want and the screen.  However, I don't like all that Adobe Flash technology.  Makes web pages slow.  But nice design.  Kudos to WGAL.

Remember, I will try to post weather updates tomorrow as I can.  Another 10 stories blog comes later Friday.  Take care.

-- matt

10 Stories Preview

Your daily 10 stories column will come later tonight when I get home from work. Overslept this morning, so that is why it wasn't done. Sorry. Also, Friday's 10 will be in the evening as well.

I am not too worried about tonight's every other day winter weather event. There is a small chance the precip could start as freezing rain, but I think this will be a rain event. However, watch out Sunday as I think we are gonna get wallopped by snow. It might start as early as Saturday night. I will keep you up to date with the latest.

I trust you are having a great day.

Weather Update

Well, the winter event that we are in is still continuing.  Roads are slush covered on the main roadways (US 22 and 39) ... and slush and snow covered on the minor roads.  If you are home, stay home this evening.  And if you work tomorrow (not me, thankfully) then be careful.  I think it will be a rough time heading into the city tomorrow.

...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Wednesday... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Wednesday. Mixed precipitation continues this evening...and is expected to change to mainly freezing rain overnight. The heavier sleet and freezing rain along the Turnpike and points south will continue for at least the first half of the night. This area should expect the precipitation to gradually change to more rain with pockets of freezing rain...as the temperatures rise slightly overnight. Ice accretions should stay less than a quarter of an inch in most places...but some isolated spots may receive a little more than this. The sleet and light snow over the central and northern counties will turn to mainly freezing rain or drizzle with only pockets of sleet or snow lingering. Ice accretions should be a tenth of an inch or less...with isolated spots picking up a little more. The threat overnight is mainly for the freezing rain and drizzle to accumulate on surfaces and roadways. Little additional snowfall will accumulate...and what is on the ground may compact and become slushy as the rain and sleet fall in to it. The precipitation should change to mainly rain right as it tapers off around or just after sunrise Wednesday. Just a few snow showers are expected over the western Highlands late Wednesday morning and into the afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving. Motorists should be especially cautious on bridges and overpasses...where slippery spots develop first. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite source of weather information for the latest updates. Additional details can also be found at... weather.Gov/statecollege. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the later updates on this situation.
More later ....

10 Stories ... 12/15/2008

Good morning.  Two very important stories shape this Monday morning.  But first of all, HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS?!  That's right, we are back in the fight.  Now, Baltimore will face our fury.  Go cowboys!

Our first two stories are personal choice stories, as they broke overnight and both are equally mentioning.

Story 1 ...
In a shocking event that happened as President Bush traveled to Iraq, he was pelted by shoes at a news conference.  He asked for questions and a Iraqi journalist took his shoes off, threw them one by one at the President.  Bush just brushed it off like nothing happened.  And it was all caught on video.  Story from AP via MyWay.com.  In some personal reflection and opinion of the story:  In the Arab and Islamic culture, if someone does this to you, it is considered to be the greatest insult that could happen to you.  So, if you look at this just in that perspective, then you can easily tell what they think of him.  As in the song title of the New Radicals one hit wonder, Mr. Bush, sorry but "You Get What You Give".

Story 2 ...
In a equally sad and scary story ... Los Angeles Times reports on a Utah 'prophet' who says that there is no way that Obama will take office.  He predicts a nuclear Christmas as that disaster will prevent Obama from office.  As you read the article, the poor writer has to go into deep rural Utah (sounds like Osama right?), and he says that our time is up.  Why do we have to put up with stuff like this???

Story 3 ...
Talk about being lazy ... A Cleveland Browns fan was cited for coming to the stadium, on  a couch. Kinda brings new meaning to the term, couch potato.  Story from WJW-TV Cleveland, OH.

Story 4 ...
For the first time since the Cold War, Russian warships will visit Cuba.  Story from KXXV-TV in Weslaco, TX.

Story 5 ...
As you know, newspapers across America is facing hard times.  Recently, the Rocky Mountain News of Denver, CO has been put up for sale.  Well, now in a attempt to save itself, the embattled newspaper made a website asking readers to tell why they love their newspaper.  This story from KMGH-TV Denver, CO.

Story 6 ...
As you may know, Chicago's famous Wrigley Field will host a NHL game on New Year's Day.  Now the ball-park is opening the park for a limited time, to ice skating.  The cost?  $10. Story from WLS-TV Chicago, IL.

Story 7 ...
When the President-Elect comes to Washington, DC to take the oath of office, he will arrive by train.  Story from KKTV-TV Colorado Springs, CO.

Story 8 ...
Some ignorant people think that Obama is Muslim.  Well, this will quiet their fears.  The Obama went Christmas Tree shopping this weekend.  Story from WMAQ-TV in Chicago, IL.

Story 9 ...
Looks like due to funding cuts and not enough money, the Philadelphia's Mummer's Parade is in limbo.  Story from The Patriot-News - Harrisburg, PA.

Story 10 ...
And our final story of the morning.  The Fort Dix terror trail is in closing arguments.  Story from Courier-Post - Cherry Hill, NJ.

Have a great day everyone.  More stories tomorrow or later today if anything breaks.
