10 stories 12/14/2008

Good Sunday morning!  It is officially 14 days to Christmas and as each day pass, it becomes less and less likely for a SusquValley White Christmas.  I say that, even as Monday's predicted high is to be in the mid 50's.  So, the only way we might be able to experience that is if you put in one of those classic Christmas movies in your DVD player.  I hope i'm wrong, but better luck next year.

Now, onto today's 10 Stories ...

Story 1 ...

Sara Palin's hometown Alaskan church was burnt and heavily damaged in Wasilla.  And the investigation so far suggests it was suspicious.  Story from KTRK-TV Houston, TX.

Story 5 ...

We have an interesting story about an amazing volunteer.  A woman volunteered 32 years and close to 35,000 hours to her local hospital.  This inspirational story from The Spectrum - St. George, UT.

Everyone thinks that The Patriot-News, the leading newspaper in South Central PA has liberal tendencies.  They endorsed Obama for president and people complain about the editorials for liberalness.  It has been said that Harrisburg, Carlisle and Lebanon city areas are the 2nd most conservative region in the entire USA.  Well, perhaps the Patriot-News found religion.  They had a huge special report in today's Sunday Patriot-News about faith healing.

Happy Saturday to you.  I hope that you are getting started on your holiday shopping.  I should be doing that today.  But not yet.  Probably in a few days.  Very nice weather out too.  Sunday will be even better.

Several of my friends have received liver transplants, so I have found this story interesting.  A Sacramento hospital has decided to close their liver transplant problems.  Two main reasons for doing so is lack of donors and increased competition.  Story from KSBY-TV San Luis Obispo, CA.

Story 3 ...

In a time when we have elected the first african-american president, signs of diversity are everywhere.  This holiday season is no exception, as a city now has the Islam symbol of the star and crescent to it's holiday display.  Story from WJLA-TV in Washington, DC.

Story 4 ...

Continuing with the holiday theme with this story.  A Florida panhandle city is hosting a 'Redneck Christmas'.  I thought the state of Georgia would host this, but nope. Story from WKMG-TV in Orlando.

Something does not make sense with this story.  There has been a steep drop in active oil rigs from year over year.  If that is the case, why is oil prices dropping so much??  Story from KTRK-TV Houston, TX.

25th Anniversary of A Christmas Story ...

Thanks to one of my friends for this great link.

It is the 25th Anniversary of the classic holiday film "A Christmas Story".  You know the movie.  A boy, wants a BB gun for Christmas.  Mom says no.  Kid places hints all over the place.  But more importantly, it shows the world at a more simpler time.

Good evening.

I hope everyone read the previous post regarding the crazy so-called religious group Westboro Baptist Church.  Even though, most people don't understand why they do what they do, it shows however (in a really weird, twisted and mean way) that free speech is still allowed.  I just hope that the majority of Americans believe that this is not the way to do it though.

Now, onto this evening's 10:

Story 1 ...

It is something else when a 5-year-old saves someone's life.  But that happing twice?  Details from KNSD-TV San Diego, CA.

Story 2 ...

For those who believe in God but not are really religious like me, this might scare you just a little.  The famous doll company Mattel, has made a toll that does nothing but spout out religious phrase after phrase.  Perhaps this holiday doll is what Fred Phelps and his flock should really need for the holidays, eh?  Story from KTBC-TV Austin, TX.

Westboro Baptist Church is at it again ....

I was gonna save this for this evening's 10 stories, but this story just could not wait ...

The hurtful and paux church from Kansas, Westboro Baptist Church is at it again. Just when you think their hate and vileful behavior cannot be any more bad, it does.

UPI reports this insane story.

I will allow you time to digest ..... Now the rant.

What does this domestic terrorist fake church think they are? Santa Claus brings hope and warm feelings to children all over the world.

I despise this group with a vengence and yet again, they continue to pop up like a zit. Oh well, what are we gonna do right?
