10 Stories ... 1/10/2009

Good evening.  Time for some news you can read and use.  Until I change my mind again and/or until further notice, I am going back to 10 stories a night.  I personally feel that is plenty for one time to digest.  I hope you agree.  Time for tonight's 10:

1:  So, the country of Israel is saying that it's defending it's country as it continues to fight Hamas inside the Gaza Strip.  Well, some people are saying that perhaps it is using too much force.  Story from The Daily Item - Sunbury, PA.

2:  Several days ago, I posted a story about the friendly city bet for the playoff games.  Well, here is another story about that.  This time, New York vs. Philly.  Details from WNYW-TV New York, NY.

3:  A huge celebrity wedding happened this weekend.  Fergie was wed to Josh Duhamel.  The wedding happened in Malibu, California.  Story from KABC-TV Los Angeles, CA.

4:  Now, the other side of the coin, when you lose sports bets.  Oklahoma Daily, the college newspaper for the University of Oklahoma reports that the junior senator from Oklahoma has to sing Elton John's "Rocket Man" for payback for Florida's win.

5:  Time to focus on one of the most underplayed great artists that came out in 2008.  The Examiner from San Francisco does a feature article on UK artist, Estelle.  She had the hit 'American Boy' that featured Kanye West back in 08.  Let me tell you, her album 'Shine' was one of the best albums of last year.  Once you read the article, you will have a better understanding of this great hidden talent artist.

6:   Here is another sign that the national/world nightmare of W is nearly over.  Mr. Bush officially takes his last trip aboard Air Force One.  Details now from ABC News.

7:  In what was probably a very surreal and photographic moment, President-Elect Barack Obama and his family visited the Lincoln Memorial.  Story from WPVI-TV Philadelphia, PA.

8:  And speaking of photographs, it has been 40 years since the first photos of our planet, Earth has been published.  Interesting article follows here from digg.com via Earthrise.

9:  Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez is trying to make headlines once again.  Now he says that a US Embassy official is trying to plot against his country from Puerto Rico.  Details from The San Diego Union-Tribune - San Diego, CA.

10:  Finally this Saturday night, what nation will Obama visit when he becomes president? Well, he won't have to travel far, it will be Canada.  Story from CBS News.

Have a great rest of your Saturday.  Coming up Sunday on my blog:  Hopefully a farewell post about the stinking Eagles ... a 24 Part I of II premiere review ... and another 10 stories.  Until then .... good night, and good luck.
