Winter Weather Update (11:55AM)

Just looked at the radar. Looks like precip is holding off for a bit. But stuff to the west and south. Here is the latest advisory. More later this evening.

... ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY...
AN ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY.
PRECIPITATION WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION DURING THE MID TO LATE MORNING HOURS. FOLLOWING A BRIEF PERIOD OF SNOW AND SLEET... A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SLEET WILL OCCUR DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS... BEFORE GRADUALLY MIXING WITH AND CHANGING TO FREEZING RAIN LATER TONIGHT. A SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATION OF ICE BETWEEN ONE QUARTER AND ONE THIRD OF AN INCH IS LIKELY OVERNIGHT IN AREAS FROM HARRISBURG NORTHWARD TO STATE COLLEGE... WILLIAMSPORT AND BERWICK. AN INCH OR TWO OF SLEET AND SNOW IS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN.
FREEZING RAIN WILL GRADUALLY CHANGE TO PLAIN RAIN WEDNESDAY MORNING AS THE TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING. CENTRAL MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS WILL BE THE LAST TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING ON WEDNESDAY.
AN ICE STORM WARNING MEANS A SIGNIFICANT... AND POSSIBLY DAMAGING... AMOUNT OF FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED. ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL LIKELY LEAD TO SNAPPED TREE LIMBS AND POWER OUTAGES. IN ADDITION... TRAVEL ON UNTREATED ROADS WILL BE DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

.A COMPLEX LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL STRENGTHEN AS IT MOVES NORTH FROM THE TENNESSEE VALLEY INTO THE LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION. AS THE WINTRY PRECIPITATION OVERSPREADS THE REGION FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST TODAY... IT WILL BEGIN AS A PERIOD OF SNOW AND SLEET... THEN CHANGE TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN LASTING FROM LATER THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY BEFORE ENDING AS MOSTLY RAIN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. A SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND NORTH OF THE TURNPIKE UP TO ABOUT INTERSTATE 80. MINOR ICE AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR OVER THE REST OF THE REGION AS WELL.
