10 Stories ... 12/11/2008

Good evening.

Rain has saturated the entire Susquehanna Valley this evening and it's not gonna let up any time tonight.  There is a small chance for a changeover back to sleet and freezing rain, but I really don't see that happening.  As I drove through the village of Linglestown about an hour ago or so, it was 41 degrees.  It will warm up this weekend back to the upper 40's.  It's not Florida weather, but we will take it.  Here is a link for the latest weather conditions area the region.

Also, been receiving good feed back from my friends and family about this new blog.  Thanks for your comments.  I will hopefully put them into use.  But please, pass this blog along.  I am sure people are going to love it.  Also, Friday's 10 Stories will be published Friday evening, as I have another early day in the morning.

Now, onto this evening's 10 stories.

Story 1 ...
In what could be the death of the bluetooth, and perhaps rejoicing by motorists, researchers have developed a 'cell phone block' for your cell phone.  Basically, while your car keys are in the ignition, no cell phone signals can be used, or received.  Story from KSTU-TV Salt Lake City, UT.

Story 2 ...
In which is becoming a disturbing trend, 8 more states and the Virgin Islands received letters with white powder in it.  Pennsylvania thankfully was not one of the states.  Story from KWCH-TV Hutchinson, KS.

Story 3 ...
A science center in Texas is gaining a good reputation.  When the space shuttle Columbia disaster happened, they were asked to help map the debris field out.  Well, now they have the task of mapping out future hurricanes.  Story from KTRE-TV Lufkin, TX.

Story 4 ...
Here is our stupid criminal story for the evening.  A man tries to grab library donations, and the librarian tackles the guy.  Story from WDIV-TV Detroit, MI.

Story 5 ...
Your feel good story for this evening also comes from Detroit.  Kids take a fantasy flight to the North Pole.  Story from WJBK-TV Detroit, MI.

Story 6 ...
We get an update to the story I brought you yesterday about the now in trouble Gov. of the state of Illinois.  Well, looks like he is defiant and has no plans on resigning.  Worse yet, there is a real possibility that he just might name that person to replace the vacant senate seat.  Details from The Morning Sun, Ptitsburg, KS.

Story 7 ...
Hopefully the Moon will be bigger than normal Friday night.  That is if the weather is right.  Details from Hamilton-Wenham Chronicle, Beverly, MA.

Story 8 ...
First, there was 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' books ... and that helped your soul, of course.  Now, Chicken Soup .... for your flu?  It may be common sense, but more and more people are suggesting it now.  Story from Southside Times, Beech Grove, IN.

Story 9 ...
Well, Usher has become a dad, again.  He recently welcomed the birth of his 2nd son, Naviyd.  Details from The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, CA.

Story 10 ...
Instead of me writing a Dallas Cowboys weekly blog story, I found this story.  Is there favoritism in the ranks of the Dallas Cowboys organization?  That is what some players are thinking as they say there is a 'buddy system' between Romo and some players.  Details from Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth, TX.
