15 Stoires .... 12/25/08

Well ... So much for a day off.

I trust you all had a good Christmas. I got mostly everything I wanted. My grandmother gave me cash (which is always good) and I might get an iPhone tomorrow. Can't wait for that. I know, I said i didn't want one, but if more free wifi is available, go for it. Plus, and to some people, it may be a shock, but I actually went one full calendar year with one cell phone. So, for the tech savvy like me, yes, it is possible to do that.

With that said, onto today's 15:

1) We begin the 15 stories today with a sad story. Eartha Kitt, who sung 'Santa Baby' and played Catwoman passed away today. She was 81. Story from Saint Paul Pioneer Post - St. Paul, MN.

2) Looks like more and more companies are giving Dec. 26th off this year as well. My brother also was asked to take today off, due to the economy. Details from WFSB-TV Hartford, CT.

3) Here is an interesting story about the decining print media and the resurgance of online media. Story from Yahoo! News.

4) One of the Christmas movies that came out today 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' is getting plenty of Oscar talk. A review from KETV-TV Omaha, NE.

5) Good news now for my beloved Dallas Cowboys. Looks like our great QB Tony Romo was back at practice today. Details from KFDA-TV Amarillo, TX.

6) Homeland Security gave us a five-year 'terrorist forecast'. Ah, at last, Bush & Company's last ditch attempt to scare us all. Sorry, but that time as passed. Nice try though. Story from Yahoo! News.

7) A horrific accident happened on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Christmas Eve. 3 people passed away and the only survivor was a 3 year old girl who suffered major burns. Details from The Sentinel - Carlisle, PA.

8) After a mixed result, looks like the DTV deadline might be extended. Story from KCAU-TV Sioux City, IA.

9) Looks like someone stole a historic cannonball from the Alamo and there is a $5,000 reward for it's return. Details from WOAI-TV San Antonio, TX.

10) The Notre Dame fighting isish football team went to Hawaii looking to win. After 9 unseccessful bowl games in a row, they took Hawaii by storm. They won 49-26. Here is reaction about the win from WSJV-TV Elkhart, IN.

11) Here is an interesting story about a family that has received a 'mystery check' from a person every year for the past 5 years. Story from WLWT-TV Cincinnati, OH. Don't all checks have name and address on it???

12) Looks like a copyright confusion between two rival movie companies might delay one of 2009's most anticipated movies, Watchmen. Details from KCBS/KCAL-TV Los Angeles, CA.

13) Crazy story about a DOG stealing a rawhide bone from a dog shop. Yup, you read that right, a dog. Story from KUTV-TV Salt Lake City, UT.

14) Who knew that they owned stake at a baseball team? New York Times has been advised to sell it's stake of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. Why? Due to the continuing troubling times at the newspaper. Details from WBZ-TV Boston, MA.

15) And finally this Christmas Day ..... Looks like President Bush should've done his research before he issued that pardon. He issued a pardon to some one and then once it was made, was it realized that his family gave to the GOP. Story from Yahoo! News Politics Wire.

Have a great evening. More stories tomorrow.
