12 Stories .... 12/13/2008

Happy Saturday to you.  I hope that you are getting started on your holiday shopping.  I should be doing that today.  But not yet.  Probably in a few days.  Very nice weather out too.  Sunday will be even better.

Time for today's 10:

Story 1 ...
A California man was sentenced to 965 years for the rape of 9 women.  Story from KPSP-TV Cathedral City, CA.

Story 2 ...
Several of my friends have received liver transplants, so I have found this story interesting.  A Sacramento hospital has decided to close their liver transplant problems.  Two main reasons for doing so is lack of donors and increased competition.  Story from KSBY-TV San Luis Obispo, CA.

Story 3 ...
In a time when we have elected the first african-american president, signs of diversity are everywhere.  This holiday season is no exception, as a city now has the Islam symbol of the star and crescent to it's holiday display.  Story from WJLA-TV in Washington, DC.

Story 4 ...
Continuing with the holiday theme with this story.  A Florida panhandle city is hosting a 'Redneck Christmas'.  I thought the state of Georgia would host this, but nope. Story from WKMG-TV in Orlando.

Story 5 ...
Something does not make sense with this story.  There has been a steep drop in active oil rigs from year over year.  If that is the case, why is oil prices dropping so much??  Story from KTRK-TV Houston, TX.

Story 6 ...
A landmark South Jersey diner, Olga's Diner in Marlton, NJ is closing .... Such a shame, passed it numerous times when I ever was in Jersey.  This sad news from Burlington County Times Willingsboro, NJ.

Story 7 ...
Talk about one hell of a deal ..... A home is being raffled off for $150 and if you can answer a simple math problem.  Too bad that math wasn't my strong subject in school.  Story from Lodi News-Sentinel - Lodi, CA.

Story 8 ...
May the force be with the buyer .... Someone bought Luke Skywalker's light saber was auctioned off for nearly quarter of a million dollars.  Story from The Examiner - San Francisco, CA.

Story 9 ...
This North Carolina newspaper has reprinted Letters to Santa dating back to the early 1900's.  Very interesting.  Story from Mooresville Tribune - Mooresville, NC.

Story 10 ...
And finally, our last story of the day.  Looks like Comcast expands their search for the new home of the Philadelphia Phantoms team.  Details from Courier-Post - Cherry, Hill, NJ.

Have a great Saturday.
